Hello again

Its been a while since the last blog so what have you missed?
We have a really healthy club with a good number of members.
There is some excellent experience from well established members and lots of new blood so there is a great balance of talent.
This can be felt in the meetings as we have had a regular high attendance and a lot of visiting guests.
It has been easier to set up the room and the agenda recently as more and more people are using the D71.org website to confirm attendance, accept roles etc so thanks for this :)

Every year Toastmasters Clubs try to gain as many Distinguished Club Programme (DCP) points as they can out of a maximum of ten.
We are delighted that Heart of England have already achieved nine and are on course to get ten by the end of the TM year which is the end of June.
We are on track to achieve a few points early in the new year too.
These DCP points are the result of hard work by the members whether it is completing speech manuals, helping out at contests, mentoring other members etc.

Talking of contests...
The International Speech and Evaluation Contest will be taking place this coming Tuesday 15th March.
We have a number of speakers of varied experience and it should be a great night with some great speeches.
If you are helping out thank you but if you do not have a role please still come along and support and bring a friend or family member too.
Support is very important at contests to help to build a warm atmosphere.

Finally we are on the way to getting another award.
If we get five new members before March 31st we will receive a full set of Advanced Manuals and another ribbon for our banner.
We already have four fully signed up new members so only need one more.
The advanced Manuals will be kept in the club so that members who have progressed past their Competent Communicator can have a good look before choosing the next two manuals that they want to tackle.
If you have visited and made the decision to join try and make sure you have completed the process before the end of march and if anyone knows someone who wants to join give them a nudge too :)

I hope to see as many as possible there on Tuesday, if you are bringing a rugby team (don't laugh.. it has happened) then let me know or drop a comment on here so that I can have a few spare chairs ready..
