Meeting 8th October 2016

Hello all, it's been a while hasn't it?
So... what have you missed?

The club has been carrying on successfully as usual but the meeting numbers have been a bit smaller.
What this means is that members sometimes have to cover more than one role.  We are very lucky at HoE to have created a culture of getting in there and having a go and this is being passed on to our new members all the time.
Since the new club in Walsall began a few of our established members have moved there as it is closer so we wish them every success.  This means that we have even more space for new Toastmasters to come along so remember to spread the word. If you haven't been to a meeting for a while try and come along and remind yourself how much fun it is.

Our last meeting was really interesting....
Our usual venue, The Greswolde Hotel, has been closed for refurbishment so we were homeless for the night.
We found another location just a few hundred yards down the road at the Knowle Royal British Legion.  They have a function room at the back which is just the right size for meetings and is well equipped with a TV and Projector.  There is free parking at the back which leads directly into the meeting room without the need to go through the bar (Once the door has been opened)
We had to arrange the furniture ourselves but it was not heavy and some members came long early to help with this.
The Club was extremely welcoming and eager to help us with anything we needed and there was some great feedback from those that attended the meeting.
If you came along to this meeting please leave a comment here to share your views :)

The meeting itself was well directed by Glen, as Toastmaster, who made sure that our three guests were kept informed and were made to feel welcome.
We had two great speeches and evaluations but, as there were only two we didn't vote for best speaker.  We could vote for best evaluator as we include Table Topic Evaluator too and this went to Tanya
Amit led us as Table Topics Master with some really interesting topics around the theme of the evening which was "Change". We had some great speeches but the clear winner was another Amit (a guest) who told us of his childhood games with fireworks.  Very dramatic!
A great evening once again :)

I hope to see you at the next meeting which will be on Tuesday 1st November
Until then byeeee
