Sleeping Beauty Blog 19th December 2018

Sadly,  a couple of years ago, this blog pricked its finger on something and fell into a deep sleep...zzzz
Today a handsome Prince arrived to kiss the sleeping princess back to life..
Thanks to Tony H for saving the day :)

What have we missed in the meantime?
Wow, where to start?
...try to read to the end ...

** Note**
The blog will only mention first names and Surnames initials but if you don't want a mention just let me know.

We have gone from a very strong club to a really strong club and have been able to welcome lots of new members, new committees and fresh ideas to keep us pushing ahead.

Our last meeting was the last one of 2018 :'(
and it was blinder...
Deb led us in an extended Table Topics session where everyone got to speak but also to offer a topic to another member.  The theme was very festive and we had some great retorts including a melting snowman, a homely family with no technology, the heaviest present under a £ !! to our Topics winner.
Pierre gave a lovely speech about his favourite sound (something about motorbikes and his future wife) which produced a unanimous AWWWW from us all.
We had 3 new/newish Table Topics evaluators Matt, Kirsty and Calum who all did a fab job but Matt managed to edge ahead for Best Evaluator on the night.
We all then retired to a local hostelry for mince pies, drinks  and great company.
Make sure you join us whenever you can :)

**The housekeeping bit**
A few months back we had to change venue at very short notice but lots and lots of very hard work by the committee meant that we managed to secure a really supportive venue at David Lloyd.
However, victim of our own success, the club is growing and established members are continuing to support so the room we have is proving to be too small and has NO bar OR gathering area and we need to be out by 10pm.  The social side is really intrinsic in cementing friendships and debriefing after the meetings.
After lots and lots of leg work by some (particularly Rachael, Deb, Tony H, Tanya) to try to find other suitable venues we have found one that we think is good enough to host a trial meeting to see what everyone thinks.  We will have a vote on the night so PLEASE do you best to come along and see what you think.  It is only 10 mins from our current venue at
The Oak Hotel, Hockley Heath, B94 5NW  http://www.theoakhotel.com/

Wishing you all a great holiday break, if you have one, and look forward to seeing everyone at the trial venue on Tuesday 15th Jan 2019.
Seasons Greetings, Mish :)
