Meeting 4th November 2014
Well it has been a fun and exciting past few meetings but this week we went back to our normal format. To be honest it was a relief to be able to have a standard agenda and follow it without too much re-organisation. Having said that the occasion change of routine keeps us on our toes and having to think on our feet.
It was a packed meeting and, even though we had mistakenly been given the larger function room, we managed to fill the space and not feel that we were rattling around in too large a room. So well done to all who attended for bringing all that energy with them.
The evening was started off with a "Toast" and Tony led us in a toast to "Kicking it up a notch", a call to arms for us all to put in a little bit more effort this week. This was certainly achieved by the whole group.
We are very lucky in our club in that when members attend meetings they always come with a willingness to join in fully and get the most out of the evening.
We had three guests this week, one a returning guest, and two of them bravely got up to do a Table Topic (The impromptu part of the evening) and both delivered very good speeches.
We had three great speeches and some excellent evaluations and so it was a packed evening but we somehow managed to finish a little ahead of schedule...
,,,Oh well, more time in the bar to relax then...
Just a quick footnote :-
Gayna Cooper, who won the Divisional Humorous Speech Contest, went on to represent our Division at the District 71 Northern Uk and Ireland final in Belfast last weekend.
We were lucky to have seen Gayna's speech in Harrogate and wishes her luck in the next round of the competition.
